Workshop Overview:
During this workshop, you will be guided through the process of handcrafting a traditional leather keyring from full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide leather.
This leather keyring project has been carefully designed by Fenner to introduce a selection of core, transferable leathercraft skills through the creation of a traditional leather keyring. You will learn methods for accurately marking leather, punching holes, setting a rivet, burnishing edges, and hand-sewing leather using the saddle stitch method. These fundamental techniques provide an excellent foundation for many other small leathercraft projects.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have gained practical knowledge, hands-on experience, and an appreciation of the traditional techniques that you can continue to develop through independent practice or further tuition.
Each attendee will receive a workshop handout listing the tools and equipment used during the session, along with exclusive supplier discount codes to help you get started if you decide to continue leathercraft at home.
This workshop is ideal for anyone who would like to experience traditional leatherworking in a relaxed, small-group setting. If you're looking to develop a broader understanding of leatherworking, including selecting leather, understanding a wider range of traditional tools and techniques, and building the confidence to continue your leatherworking journey, the Introduction to Leatherwork one-to-one or one-to-two tutorial provides a more in-depth and personalised learning experience.
