Leatherwork Courses

I offer leatherwork courses on a one-to-one basis or to small groups that are tailored to suit the student's specific requirements and aspirations. Teaching technical skills and techniques alongside design, courses can accommodate a range of ability levels from beginner to advanced progression courses on certain topics.

Beginner courses will typically introduce a fairly broad range of topics, covered to an appropriate depth, including;
- Leather types, selection and suitability for purpose,
- An introduction to Designing leather goods,
- Leatherworking tools & equipment,
- Health & safety when working leather,
- Practical leatherwork, usually including: Marking out, cutting, punching, setting rivets / press studs, hand stitching, edge finishing and leather finishes.

At the end of a beginner course the student will have a small leathercraft product to take away. All patterns, tools and materials are included.

I offer progression courses on certain topics that progress basic leathercraft skills to a more advanced level. These courses are ideal for students wishing to learn more about a specific process or aspect of leathercraft and is of particular benefit to a student wishing to undertake leatherwork at a semi-professional or professional level.
