Private Group Leathercraft Workshop: Make a Handcrafted Leather Keyring (2 - 4 People)

Discover traditional leatherworking skills while making your own handcrafted leather keyring with artisan leatherworker Fenner Benedict.

Designed specifically for beginners, this project-based private group workshop requires no previous leatherworking experience. It’s a great opportunity to discover traditional leathercraft, learn practical skills and create something by hand while enjoying quality time with family or friends. Limited to just four attendees, the workshop offers plenty of individual guidance throughout the session, making it ideal for couples, groups of friends or families with older children.

In this workshop, you will work with premium vegetable-tanned leather and learn the techniques required to transform quality leather and hardware into a finished leather keyring. During the session, Fenner will demonstrate each technique before guiding you through every stage of the project. At the end of the workshop, each participant will take home their own handcrafted leather keyring as a lasting reminder of their journey into traditional leatherworking.

This leathercraft project workshop has been carefully designed by Fenner to introduce a selection of core, transferable leatherworking skills through the creation of a traditional leather keyring. You will learn methods for accurately marking leather, punching holes, setting a rivet, burnishing edges, and hand-sewing leather using the saddle stitch method. These fundamental techniques provide an excellent foundation for many other small leathercraft projects.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have gained practical knowledge, hands-on experience, and an appreciation of the traditional techniques that you can continue to develop through independent practice or further tuition.

You will also receive a workshop handout listing the tools and equipment used during the session, along with exclusive supplier discount codes to help you get started if you decide to continue leathercraft at home.

This private group workshop is ideal for anyone who would like to experience traditional leatherworking in a relaxed, small-group setting. If you're looking to develop a broader understanding of leatherworking, including selecting leather, understanding a wider range of traditional tools and techniques, and building the confidence to continue your leatherworking journey, the Introduction to Leatherwork one-to-one or one-to-two tutorial provides a more in-depth and personalised learning experience.
